Is there such a thing as socially responsibility? When we watch television or listen to our favorite radio channel, what is it that makes us stop and think that what we’re watching and listening to has crossed the lines of decency? As I overheard a conversation on Lady Gaga the other day, I envisioned how younger people have perceived this type of entertainment. It seems like the worse off America has become financially, so has it become morally. No longer does one care about how the images and forced messages affect our current state and the future of the younger generation.
Accountability is not only for educators but also for parents, doctors, lawyers, businessmen, etc. We all are accountable for how society evolves whether we want to or not. Many of us sit and blame others for the plight of our society but don’t realize they are very much a vital part of it also. With accountability becomes responsibility. We must seek out change. That state of consciousness opens our eyes to everything. It gives us a sense of purpose and direction with first, ourselves, and then others.
Our young ones are misguided now more than ever. They are being manipulated and programmed to become these sexual monsters that treat woman like dirt or themselves that think like criminals. Isn’t this what they see on MTV or BET? Just because it exists doesn’t make it right.
Wake up people! Take charge of your life and your responsibility as an American. Teach your kids about morals, responsibility, and accountability. Provide them with more positive opportunities to create peer relationships and other forms of entertainment besides the television. Show them what respectable parents that love and care for them are committed to doing. Let others know when things are carelessly thrust among us, it shouldn’t be tolerated or accepted. Let’s begin to build positive self esteem and conscious behavior among our younger generation so they too will be able to identify socially corrupt behavior and make better choices for themselves.
If we don’t stand firm for something, be it small to many people, then we’ll continue to fall for everything. Wake up people to a conscious day!
